Summer CPD in DreamSpace & DCU’s Minecraft Studio

For Summer 2019, TeachNet in association with Microsoft Education, are delivering two blended courses (Face-to-face & online), ‘Making Sense of Minecraft for Education‘ and ‘DreamSpace STEM in the Primary Classroom’. Spend 3 days in Dublin City University’s new Minecraft Studio or Microsoft’s immersive teaching and learning space, DreamSpace (1-3 July) followed by 2 days online this summer and learn how to use exciting tools to enhance learning in the primary classroom.

Making Sense of Minecraft for Education
Minecraft imageExplore how to can use Minecraft Education Edition as a cross-curricular learning tool to help improve pupil engagement, collaboration, creative exploration, and learning outcomes.
Minecraft: Education Edition is an open-world game that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment where the only limit is your pupils’ imagination. Learn how to use Minecraft:EE and create classroom resources to take back to your classroom. Use Minecraft to increase pupils’ motivation and increase opportunities to develop their decision making through solving problems and implementing solutions. Learn all this in the new Minecraft immersive studio in Dublin City University, St. Patrick’s College campus, where Minecraft comes to life.

DreamSpace STEM in the Primary Classroom
Bring STEM into your classroom by attending the first DreamSpace teacher summer school to explore how teachers can create inquiry and project-based activities focused on STEM (and STEAM) that can be used across the primary curriculum. Using a wide range of digital tools and maker activities, participants will explore ways they can change their own practice to better support STEM learning. Hands-on activities include coding and Maker Space challenges using MakeCode, Micro:Bit, Paint 3D, and more with content provided to all participants through Microsoft Teams and OneNote, you can bring a bit of DreamSpace back to your classroom for next year. Participants will spend three days in DreamSpace at One Microsoft Place joined by the DreamSpace team for a fantastic learning experience.

Blended courses are:

  • EPV day approved by the Department of Education and Skills.You're Limitless slogan
  • Delivered in a blended way (3 days face-to-face workshops and 2 days online) courses.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided for course participants.
  • Developed and delivered in association with TeachNet Ireland and H2 Learning.

Courses take place  in DCU’s Minecraft Studio and DreamSpace at Microsoft Ireland from Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd July. The remainder of the course (equivalent of 8 hours) can be taken anytime, anywhere between 4th July and 23rd August 2019.

For a limited time only, both courses are available to book for only €49 (Full price €89) each . Places are restricted so book now (Unsuccessful applicants will be automatically added to a waiting list for future courses.).
