Nominate a Junior Spider

clip_image002Nominations are now open for the Eircom Junior Spiders Awards 2011 ahead of this years awards ceremony in the Helix in DCU on December 13th.

Now in their third year, the Junior Spiders were setup as a parallel programme to the long running Eircom Spiders, the Junior Spiders invites all primary and post primary school students and teachers from the Republic and Northern Ireland to showcase their web development skills. The primary aims of the awards are to:

  • Acknowledge the innovation amongst web creators in schools.
  • Provide an exciting programme that will encourage teachers/students to further develop their technology skills in web design.
  • Encourage the use of the internet to teach subjects on our curriculum.
  • Act as a catalyst for those students who wish to pursue a career in this sector by providing access to influential business executives.

Awards include Best School Blog, Best Web Design and Best Concept, with three award categories for primary (Mega Spiders), junior cycle (Giga Spiders) and senior cycle (Giga Spiders) students.

Entries close on Tuesday, November 1st and a list of the winners (primary) and finalists (post primary) will be announced on 28th November.
