Bag Yourself a Junior Spider
Following on from the very successful inaugural Eircom Junior Spiders Awards in 2009, entries are now being invited for the 2010 showcase event at the Helix DCU on December 17th.
Established as a parallel programme to the long running Golden Spider Awards, the Junior Spiders invites all primary and post primary school students and teachers from the Republic or Northern Ireland to showcase their web development skills. The primary aims of the awards are to:
- Acknowledge the innovation amongst web creators in schools.
- Provide an exciting programme that will encourage teachers/students to further develop their technology skills in web design.
- Encourage the use of the internet to teach subjects on our curriculum.
- Act as a catalyst for those students who wish to pursue a career in this sector by providing access to influential business executives.
There are three specific award categories for primary (Mega Spiders), junior cycle (Giga Spiders) and senior cycle (Giga Spiders) students and entries close on Friday, November 5th. A list of the primary winners and post primary finalists will be announced on 30th November with successful entrants invited to exhibit their websites at the Awards Ceremony.
