Maths Counts 2015
This year’s Maths Counts conference will be taking place at University College Dublin on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th of April. A wide range of practical presentations will be offered by teachers from Who is the best penalty scorer? (Equivalent fractions to the rescue) to Walking the talk : Generating and interpreting graphs using a motion sensor. The presentations arise from teachers’ participation in a professional development initiative, Reflections in Practice.
Geoffrey Wake will be giving a keynote address – Solving a Problem : Lessons for Problem Solving. Geoffrey has a background in teaching Mathematics, research, and curriculum development. Geoffrey has been invested in research around problem solving, mathematical application, and the student’s journey from school to studying STEM subjects in university.
The conference provides a wonderful opportunity to meet with other maths teachers from around the country and exchange ideas. Also this year Microsoft Surface will be sponsoring the event. There will be representatives from the Project Maths team and Microsoft on the day to demonstrate and discuss their experiences using the Surface Pro 3, with its super digitizer pen, and Office 365.
You can reserve a place now by downloading and completing the registration form. Simply return the completed form by post, fax, or email before Friday the 27th or March.
