EU Code Week 2019

As mooted by Paul in his post last week, EU Code Week 2019 is just around the corner, in fact it runs from October 5th – 20th (which makes it more of a Code Fortnight in reality!) and the organisers are expecting even greater participation from schools and to exceed the 2.7 million participants last time out. Crucially, no previous coding knowledge is required, just visit codeweek.eu to search for events to join in your area or register your own event…

What is EU Code Week?

Code Week logoEU Code Week is a grass-roots movement that celebrates creativity, problem-solving and collaboration through programming and other related activities. The idea is to make programming more visible, to show young, adults and elderly how you bring ideas to life with code, to demystify these skills and bring motivated people together to learn. Schools and teachers of all levels and subjects are invited to participate.

Why should your school get involved?

  • Coding helps develop 21st century competences such as computational thinking, problem solving, creativity and teamwork.
  • EU Code Week offers all students the possibility to make their first steps as digital creators, by providing schools and teachers free professional development opportunities, teaching resources, international challenges and opportunities to exchange.
  • By joining the EU Code Week and the Code Week 4 All challenge, you can earn a Certificate of Excellence! Spread the word among your colleagues and invite them to join EU Code Week as well!
